When you have problems with a Flash Drives being recognized on a computer it is usually because there is another drive on the computer already using the drive letter that the flash drive wants to use.  Example our network drives use the drive letter F, unfortunately a lot of flash drives also use the letter F as well.

To get around this go to

Start >

Control Panel >

Administrative Tools >

Computer Management >

Disk Management (on the left hand side of the screen) >

Look for the drive that is your flash drive (on the right hand side of the screen).  It may or may not have a letter drive associated with it (you can tell by the sizes listed.  4 GB flash is the one listed as 4gb) >

Right click on it and select ‘change letter drive paths…’ >

Select a new drive letter (R is recommended for removable flash drives) >

Select the Change Button >

Under Assign the following drive letter select the letter R >

And okay.

This will allow the computer to recognize the Flash drive each time.

Beginning after the 14.3.2 update to Mac Outlook 2011 released March 12, 2013, sending emails to both previously established and new contact groups in Mac Outlook 2011 results in the message being placed in the Drafts folder so that it is not sent and the error, "EmailAddress or ItemId must be included in the request.", appears as a pop-up.

Work-around:

To avoid this problem, when using a contact group, after typing in the group name, click on the two downward-pointing arrows to the left of the name, shown circled in Figure 1 below, to expand the contact group into a list of separate email addresses as show in Figure 2 below. Send the message.

Figure 1. Click on the two downward-pointing arrows inside the name of the contact group in the 'To:' line of the email address to expand the contact group into individual email addresses.

Figure 2. Contact group after expansion into individual email addresses. This contact group contained four entries

Other work-arounds:

For a Microsoft Exchange email system, it is possible to recreate the contact group in Outlook Web App, OWA, the browser version of email. Look under 'Contacts', New, 'Contact Group'. The advantage of a contact group created in OWA is that unlike a contact group created in Mac Outlook 2011, the group is available from any computer.

Users of large contact groups at Cornell University might also consider creating a mailing list to manage the group. (Instructions for requesting a mailing list.)

Long-term solution: We would expect Microsoft to release a fix for this problem in an upcoming update. This thread suggests that the fix might arrive in version 14.3.4 in May 2013.

Testing: This problem cannot be reproduced in earlier versions of Mac Outlook 2011 such as version 14.2.3.

Background: Contact groups in Mac Outlook 2011 are lists of email addresses stored together and saved only on the local computer. To view existing contact groups, from 'Contacts', it may be necessary to select 'On My Computer' since, unlike individual contacts in Mac Outlook 2011, contact groups are not stored on the server.

Beginning after the 14.3.2 update to Mac Outlook 2011 released March 12, 2013, sending emails to both previously established and new contact groups in Mac Outlook 2011 results in the message being placed in the Drafts folder so that it is not sent and the error shown below in Figure 1 appears as a pop-up. The error message is "EmailAddress or ItemId must be included in the request."

Use the following instructions to remove Security Master AV (Uninstall instructions)

Step 1. Remove Security Master AV and any associated malware.

Download MalwareBytes Anti-malware (MBAM). Once downloaded, close all programs and windows on your computer.

Double-click on the icon on your desktop named mbam-setup.exe. This will start the installation of MalwareBytes Anti-malware onto your computer. When the installation begins, keep following the prompts in order to continue with the installation process. Do not make any changes to default settings and when the program has finished installing, make sure a checkmark is placed next to “Update Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware” and Launch “Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware”. Then click Finish.

MalwareBytes Anti-malware will now automatically start and you will see a message stating that you should update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.

As MalwareBytes Anti-malware will automatically update itself after the install, you can press the OK button to close that box and you will now be at the main menu. You will see window similar to the one below.

Description: malwarebytes-antimalware1
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Window

Make sure the “Perform quick scan” option is selected and then click on the Scan button to start scanning your computer for Security Master AV infection. This procedure can take some time, so please be patient.

When the scan is finished a message box will appear that it has completed scanning successfully. Click OK. Now click “Show Results”. You will see a list of infected items similar as shown below.
Note: list of infected items may be different than what is shown in the image below.

Description: http://www.myantispyware.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/My_Security_Engine_remover-500x377.jpg

Make sure all entries have a checkmark at their far left and click “Remove Selected” button to remove Security Master AV. MalwareBytes Anti-malware will now remove all of associated Security Master AV files and registry keys and add them to the programs’ quarantine. When MalwareBytes Anti-malware has finished removing the infection, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.

Step 2. Reset HOSTS file.

Run Malwarebytes Anti-malware. Open Tools tab. Under FileASSASSIN label click to Run Tool button. In the open window navigate to C->Windows->System32->Drivers->etc and select HOSTS file. Click Open button. Click YES to confirm. Close Malwarebytes Anti-malware.

Click Start, Run. Type notepad and press Enter. Notepad opens. Copy all the text below into Notepad.

127.0.0.1 localhost

Save this as HOSTS to your C->Windows->System32->Drivers->etc. (Remember to select Save as file type: All files in Notepad). Close Notepad.

Note 1: if you can not download, install, run or update Malwarebytes Anti-malware, then follow the steps: Malwarebytes won`t install, run or update – How to fix it.

Note 2: if you need help with the instructions, then post your questions in our Spyware Removal forum.

Note 3: your current antispyware and antivirus software let the infection through ? Then you may want to consider purchasing the FULL version of MalwareBytes Anti-malware to protect your computer in the future.

For several months now, Facebook has become a target for viruses and malware that can harm your computer system or steal your information. There are several ways in which people are usually tricked into receiving these malicious files. Here are some recent ones:

1)      Fake Friend request.  – If you don’t recognize the person, please DO NOT click on the link.

2)      Request to view video of yourself – if you know you haven’t been captured on video by family or friends, DO NOT click on that link.

3)      Password Reset Confirmation E-Mail - Since you have already logged into your account, know your password was not reset.  Do not open the e-mail! Delete it!

As you become more aware of these, if will help you keep your system and personal information safe from viruses and malware.

The effect of these malicious files can and will harm your computer probably making it unusable.  Other malicious files called “Trojan Dropper” can continuously infect your system each time you turn your computer on. If you are infected with these types of malware files, while connected to the internet, the possibilities are very high for these files to keep downloading garbage, affecting your system and possibly other computers on the Medaille network.

Please keep your system up to date with your antivirus and antispyware programs. This does not just pertain to Facebook, these can also be from regular e-mail account or other social network account you might have such as MySpace.

Programs that are safe to use to help you keep your computer system clean: (biweekly recommended)

Malwarebyes:  (Install & Update – Run Full Scan – Remove anything found – Empty Quarantine)
Spybot Search & Destroy: (Install & Update – Run Full Scan – Remove anything found)
Adaware: (Install & Update – Run Full Scan – Remove anything found)
Super Antispyware: (Install & Update – Run Full Scan – Remove anything found)
CCleaner: (Install – uncheck recent document or recent typed URL – RUN Cleaner)
Symantec or other Antivirus program: (Update – Full Scan – Remove anything found, Empty Quarantine if necessary)

7. Troubleshooting tips for PHStat.
If you encounter a “Compile error in hidden module” dialog box message,
your version of Microsoft Excel has not been properly updated.
Uninstall PHStat and follow the instructions for updating your copy of
Excel that are given in section 1 of this document.

If you encounter other problems when first attempting to use PHStat,
make sure the Analysis ToolPak and Analysis ToolPak-VBA add-ins are
installed and activated as discussed in sections 2 and 3 above.

Generally, PHStat expects values for a variable to be placed in a
single column, although many procedures are capable of processing row-
wise values as well. If you get unexpected results with your row-wise
data, rearrange your data into columns.

Regularly check the Prentice Hall web site for your textbook for the
latest information about and updates to the Prentice Hall PHStat add-in
system.

Always remember that Microsoft Excel with PHStat is best used as a tool
for learning statistics and not as an all-purpose substitute for using
a standard statistical package in all situations. Very large data sets
or data sets with unusual statistical properties can cause Excel with
PHStat to produce invalid results.
