Office 365 for Students
Microsoft Office 365—often shortened to O365—is the name for the latest computer, mobile, and Web-enabled versions of email, Office, and related services. With O365, email storage will be increased to 50 GB, online file storage will be increased to 5 TB (that’s 5,000 GB), and versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook will be available to install or use online. Office 365 apps are also integrated with other Microsoft cloud services, such as SharePoint and OneDrive, and can be accessed directly in those services.
Office 365 comes with a full version of Office and familiar Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and more. Office 365 is a user-based service and allows each student to install on PCs or Macs, and tablets (iPad), and access Office mobile applications on iPhone and Android phones. (Office Mobile applications are included with all Windows phones).
Some key benefits of using Office 365 include the following:
- Install on up to 5 compatible PCs and Macs, plus 5 tablets
- Use with OneDrive for automatic device syncing
- Gain valuable skills on the world's most popular document software
- Always use Microsoft’s latest Office software
To install and access O365, go to portal.office.com and sign in with your Medaille username (format: abc123@medaille.edu) and password then click the "Install Software" button near the top right.
If you already have an older version of Office installed, you might be asked to uninstall it. We recommend that you do so to avoid conflicts between versions.
